It gave me confidence
By Yas.S
I gave this guidebook five stars because it helped me with self confidence. I had bought the speaker's guidebook for my Speech class tin my first year of high school. I remember on my first day of college in my speech class I had to stand up and introduce myself to everyone and I was the shyest person in the class. When I started reading the speaker's guide almost every night about self confidence it did give me hope in myself to overcome the anxiety that I had while speaking in front of people. It is easy to read this guidebook and I understood it. The chapters are in segments, step by step to giving a great speech. Over time you should be seeing results in yourself and progress you are making because of the guidebook and be comfortable.
The guidebook is light and compared to a textbook it is small so it could fit in your book bag without breaking your back. Also the pricing wouldn't break your bank, at my school's bookstore it was more expensive there than here (in Amazon). The book it self is very easy to read, it is in chapters. Mostly the chapters are about over coming fears of speaking in front of people, what help me the most is making eye contact and having confidence in myself. By the last speech I had to give, I noticed that I could get up and speak in front of the class without being nervous. This guidebook, guides you through all the steps to over come your fears. It is normal to be nervous, based on my experience this guidebook helped me with gain confidence and is cheaper than other guidebooks compared to it. If you are going into college for the first time and your professor recommends the book I give a two thumbs up of taking the time to read it and to see yourself grow through out time.

An Essential Text for the Speech Student
By Cameron
I was never big on my speech class. I took it as an elective, essentially a filler class, so I wasn't particularly excited for it. However, this book gets the job done as far as texts are concerned. The book is formatted in a very straightforward topical manner. It provides more than enough sample speeches to give a good understanding to the reader. Its main weakness is the comb binding, which is forever annoying.
If you are a professor evaluating texts for your speech courses, I recommend this one.
