Highly Readable, Inside Look at Modern Hinduism

The Patels and their friends are enamoured with the communal and ritual activities of temple life in the UK. A sense of meaning and belonging! But when Rahil and his brother want to go all the way and become priests it is considered too much of a good thing. But Rahil has a calling on his life. From an early age, he mesmerises crowds with his words - even gaining the attention and affection of "Guruji", the godlike leader of the growing movement. Catapulted to fame and luxury (even if he personally doesn't have any possessions), all Rahil really wants is personal peace. Driven by a desire for answers, the threads of the intricate tapestry begin to unravel...
Despite a few passages in the middle where my attention flagged, this was highly readable and involving. The relationships are touchingly rendered, between Rahil and guruji, but especially with his brother. I rooted for Rahil all the way.
Renouncing a normal life with all its attachments, even or especially family. A harrowing experience of taking philosophy to the end of the line.
A fascinating look at modern religious politics and practices. A thrilling spiritual quest and inspiring tale of personal dedication to the divine. This book is a must-read for Westerners interested in a personal reflection on Hindu thought, and for Indians everywhere.

Intriguing and wonderful

This is such a wonderfully inspiring read. I was left with a greater and more compassionate insight into the world of Hinduism. His story of being found by Jesus love will ring true to any who have also "been found". My only little criticism is I wanted more story! I found it sad to reach the end of his currently unfolding new reality.
